Attorney
Kit founded Kit Franchise Law in 2019 and serves as attorney and trusted franchise counsel to his clients. Kit’s practice focuses solely on franchise law providing a holistic and humanistic approach to solving various client’s legal needs.
As a franchise attorney, Kit’s vast franchising experience includes franchise disclosure document review and pre-purchase analysis; federal and state franchise law compliance; sales and resales of existing franchise units; mergers and acquisitions; franchise dispute resolution; franchise system maintenance and day-to-day oversight; lease reviews and negotiations; vendor contract drafting and negotiation; franchise sales materials compliance auditing; as well as many other franchise-specific legal issues.
Kit has served in executive leadership roles for several business development companies and franchise systems, including St. Gregory Development Group, CycleBar Franchising, Mama Mimi’s, Local Barre, and Fueled Collective. Kit served as Assistant General Counsel at St. Gregory while overseeing legal compliance of the sales department which sold over 7,000 franchises worldwide. Kit also served as General Counsel of CycleBar from its inception through multiple private equity acquisitions and ultimately its IPO under parent company Xponential Fitness, LLC, with over 250 studios open across the globe.
Following St. Gregory and CycleBar’s acquisition, Kit continued to serve as General Counsel for CycleBar while launching his boutique franchise law firm and is currently Of Counsel for Xponential Fitness, which boasts 10 amazing boutique fitness brands (Club Pilates, Pure Barre, CycleBar, StretchLab, Rowhouse, YogaSix, Rumbler, AKT, Stride, and BFT) with over 2,220 studios open in 48 states and 13 countries.
Prior to his work in franchise law, Kit proudly served as an Assistant Prosecutor for Hamilton County in the Family Law and Children’s Services division which is charged with protecting children from abuse, neglect, and other dangerous situations. While a prosecutor Kit handled more than a hundred case files and litigated dozens in both child abuse and juvenile delinquency.
Prior to his admittance to the Ohio bar, Kit worked in options trading at the Chicago Board Options Exchange, public relations for Edelman, and politics for local, state, and national candidates.
Kit is a graduate of the Salmon P. Chase College of Law and holds a BA in Political Science with a minor in History and English Literature from Miami University. During his time in law school, Kit served as an elected member of the Student Bar Association and as a summer intern with United States District Judge S. Arthur Spiegel who helped mold Kit into the compassionate and courageous advocate for doing what’s right.
Kit is an active member of the American Bar Association and International Franchise Association. When Kit is not behind his desk he loves spending time with his wife Fiona, infant son Finley, and dog Boz. Kit is an avid reader who has an affinity for numerous hobbies. Kit enjoys any time he can spend outdoors, whether it’s gardening, saltwater fishing, playing paddle tennis and pickleball, and even piloting (mostly crashing) FPV racing drones.
